Today was somewhat of a rollercoaster. We got on a twin hulled boat traveling 1 hour or so to the Great Barrier Reef. They kept reminding us that it wasn't just the barrier reef, but it is GREAT. The boat ride was hard for alot of us. Some students lost their cookies, some were just sea sick and some were fine. Both Cynthia and I were so nauseous but it didn't result in anything. Once we got there, we were on this big platform. The sea sickness subsided and our task was to snorkel. We put on our wet suits and then into the water. There were fish right there as we were right on top of the reef. Lots of amazing and colorful fish and coral. Just beautiful. At noon we were able to buy into an "adventure" snorkel, which took us out to see schools of fish, larger fish, and the hope of a reef shark. No luck on the shark, but lots of great aquatic life.
The boat ride back was calm and no one was sick.
Tonight after dinner we got to go to the night market. Luke, the delegation manager, Ellen and I went to get a Chinese massage. After sitting there for 5 min. some of the groups of students started to catch on and by the time I left, the place was 1/2 full of students. It was quite a poky massage, but it did the trick and my muscles are much happier.
One more day left on our adventure. Tomorrow: Crocks!
