Yesterday we got here after taking a taxi to the train station, a 6 hour train to the border, a tuktuk to the actual border, walked over the border, a free government bus to the taxi place, 3 hour taxi to Siem Reap and then another tuk tuk to our hotel. We were at our hotel by 4:30 pm. Not bad.
Then we had the most wonderful foot massage, which actually included most of the leg and a bit of the back. It was a reflexology massage so they did all the pressure points.
Today we went to the ruins including:
Ankor Wat
Bayon
Ta Phrom
Below is a picture of us at Ta Phrom. This is the place i most wanted to see, so i am really happy.
The second picture is of our tuktuk going back to town. It rained later in out trip. Megan had arranged Mr. Lucky ahead of time and he was great. He took us to all the places we wanted to go, and not really any sales pitches. He even found us a hotel for tomorrow night.
Speaking of hotels, our "guest house" is very nice. There is a hot shower, fan and AC and a big comfortable bed made of foam. Since i didn't sleep the night before, it was a great sleep.
I would describe Cambodia as "developing" and right before my eyes. There is constant construction especially on the road from the border to Siem Reap. I knew ahead of time that some consider this the worst road in the world, i wouldn't call it the worst, but maybe the worst i have been on. about 30% was paved and the rest was dirt. All the bridges over the streams were still being built, and all in the same stage of construction. So each one we had to go around in a little detour, so the car was constantly swerving. Luckily i had my motion sickness bands and ginger pills. I didn't get sick at all.
I'll end it here.
Love you all.
